Flat Musher Project Update!
We mailed off our flat mushers for their summer journeys. Each student in my class made a flat version of the musher they followed during the 2008 race. Each student thought of 2 questions to ask their real musher and we sent these along with a photo of the student and the flat musher to the musher. The flat mushers will be traveling to host families where they will spend the summer. The host families will answer some questions about their cities and take photos of their adventures with the flat musher to mail back to us in September. When we return to school in September we will map the flat mushers' travels, share the photos and letters and also the answers to the questions from the mushers.
My students were so excited to participate in this extension of the Iditarod. We have 4 mushers going to schools and teachers who responded to my email from the Iditarod website and I have some additional mushers available if any schools contact us between now and September!
