Iditarod Musher Profile 

<>Jerry Sousa, 51, was born in California where he lived until he was 12. He moved to Alaska with his family in 1971 and has been here ever since, graduating from Susitna Valley High School in Talkeetna and attended UAA. He began mushing in 2000 and said he became interested in the Iditarod by listening to KHAR radio reports on the Race. He's a member of the Iditarod Trail Committee, Inc. and owns Talkeetna Fishing Guides & Sundog Kennel. He says, "We mush dogs for the dogs! That's all!"  He and Kathleen are the parents of Nicolas, 7. He is also the father of two adult children, Fritha and Denali. Jerry lists his hobbies and interests as hunting, flying and fishing.
