Iditarod Musher Profile

Emil Churchin, 42, was born and raised in Ohio. He attended the School of Interdisciplinary Studies at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He says he came to Alaska when "I hit the Pacific Ocean and turned right." For the last year and a half, he has been a Digital Imaging Technician. He began mushing in 2004. "When Jim Lanier said he needed a handler, I walked across the room and said ‘I'll do it." A member of the Alaska Poetry League, he enjoys travel, reading, writing and kayaking.
