Scott White, 45, was born in Buffalo, New York. He graduated from State University of New York at Buffalo in 1986 with degrees in Philosophy and Design. In 1989, he moved to Washington "to get closer to mountains and wilderness." His first full time occupation is with Krekow Jennings, a Seattle Area General Contractor. "Dog mushing is my second full time occupation, but it pays much less. I've been mushing since 1997, and racing since 2001. I'm trying to do as much as possible with as few dogs as possible to keep my kennel as small as possible. For a ‘lower 48er' I've done a fair amount of mushing in Alaska, mostly around Healy and Denali Park. I'm entering the Iditarod because of my interest in traveling as long distance as possible with my dogs and as competitively as possible." Scott's partner is Stacey Fischer.
