Lachlan Clarke, 51, was born in New York State where he lived through high school and moved to St. Lois after that. He graduated from Principia College in 1979 with a BA in history, education and business. He was always involved with horses and moved to Colorado in 1989 because of his love of horses and of the West. He began running dogs in 2001 after taking a sled dog tour that year and immediately begin training for Iditarod. He says he was hoping to do well in 2007 but an injury just outside of Rainy Pass forced him to scratch. He went home and sold and retired several dogs and bought six dogs from Aaron Burmeister, one from Ross Saunderson, two from Raymie Redington and several from Dan MacEachen. He hopes to have a very solid team this year and looks forward to a significantly higher placing in the '08 Iditarod, if all goes according to plan. He says, "I think we're becoming Iditarod addicts-hope we can move up in the placings consistently in the years to come." Lachlan is married to Linda. They have two adult daughters, Leigh Ann and Jennifer. Lachlan is a member of P.R.I.D.E., the American Palomino Association and the Colorado Mountain Mushers. He enjoys training horses, cowboy work and playing polo Crosse. Learn more at Lachlan’s website: www.teamclarke.org |
