2008 Iditarod Musher Profile

Rick Casillo, 34, grew up outside of Buffalo, New York. He grew up training hunting dogs from "hounds to pointers." He was working construction there when left to move to Alaska in 1999 to be a fly fishing guide. He says that while he lived in the Bush Alaska, he watched the 2001 Iditarod by snow machine and "knew where I was headed." He says his goals are simple: to keep running the Iditarod and to become a top contender in the race." Since being in Alaska he has worked as a musher and a guide. He says he enjoys fly-fishing and anything else "outside."
