Join the Iditarod at the Alaska State Fair

The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race will once again be at the Alaska State Fair beginning August 21st. Stop by our State Fair Checkpoint (on the "Yellow Trail" near the Borealis Theater) and check out the 2009 race merchandise.

2007 and 2008 Iditarod Champion, Lance Mackey, will be on hand to sign autographs August 23rd and 24th. This is your chance to meet the only musher on the planet to win two 1,000 mile races two years in a row!

We'll greet you with "barks and wags" at the Alaska State Fair!

Target Teacher on the Trail Learns the Ropes

The 2009 Target Teacher on the Trail, Cathy Walters, recently took a ropes course at the Alaska National Guard "Stay On Track" Campus. A number of other Iditarod Teachers were on-hand for the six-hour team building exercise that included best practice methods for educators to help students stay on track, free from drugs and alcohol. The "Stay on Track" program is now a part of the Iditarod Education Program nation wide.
